These works formed a part of Amec Spie?s maintenance contract with EWS Railway for the Selhurst Road yard. McGinley was engaged to undertake arc welding repairs to a number of switches and crossings with the yard area. The complexity of the yard layout made the scoping of the works highly important and the Welding Manager spent extra time with the client to ensure that the workload was well planned and that productivity was at its highest. By working this closely with the site Supervisor the company ensured that all the damaged crossings were repaired to a high standard with no rejections, whilst achieving the least amount of disruption to this busy yard. McGinley was selected for its proven ability in the field of rail welding and whilst on site, the company?s operatives maintained a high level of productivity. The key factors of the success of these works were: - The close working relationship that exists between Amec Spie?s Project manager and McGinley?s Welding Supervisor.
- The utilisation of a highly skilled and motivated workforce, with over 5-years experience of welding works in the region.
- The in-house training provided by McGinley to ensure the worker has the correct skill base for the work being tackled.
