We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Assistant to join our new team specialised in placing rail and civil infrastructure apprentices in work via a government-funded initiative.

About the role
As Commercial Assistant you will be working closely with internal and external stakeholders to review and verify accuracy of data, monitor and prepare reports for errors and deficiencies, and plan tasks for the future.
You will have experience preparing key performance commercial data for customers and have a good head for corporate finance such as issuing purchase orders, buying goods and services, checking invoices and purchase orders for accuracy, and liaising with our accounts team to ensure cost coding of documents is accurate.
This role requires experience using Microsoft Excel for calculating budgets for goods and services, checking budgets against sums being spent and monitoring spending against budgets, and creating early warnings on overspends.
Albeit a reasonably admin heavy role, our Commercial Assistant will also need to be confident and have strong communication skills to talk to internal staff about how much ahead or behind budgets they are, the goods and services they need to purchase, and giving approvals to staff to spend sums based on a set of rules.
Administering direct costs, and supplier pricing schedules in the purchase order system will also be a responsibility in this role.
