Credit Controller

Location: Watford Head Office
Type: Full-time | Office-based (hub-based role)

About the role

We're looking for an experienced and proactive Credit Controller to join our Watford Head Office team. This role is responsible for managing cash collection and outstanding debt across a portfolio of client contracts, helping to protect cash flow and reduce credit risk.

You'll build strong working relationships with client contacts, resolve queries efficiently and take a firm but professional approach to credit control, ensuring balances are collected on time.

What you'll be doing

  • Managing credit checks, credit limits and credit insurance cover

  • Collecting outstanding debt across your contract portfolio

  • Building relationships with client contacts to support timely payment

  • Requesting payment via phone, email, video or face-to-face meetings

  • Resolving billing queries and disputed invoices

  • Allocating incoming cash and maintaining accurate account records

  • Producing reports on overdue debt and sending statements of account

  • Keeping accurate records of activity across finance and CRM systems

  • Supporting billing activity at peak times, where required

What we're looking for

Essential

  • Previous experience in a credit control role

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent time management

  • Confident communicator with a professional telephone manner

  • Assertive but non-confrontational approach to collections

  • Good Microsoft 365 skills, including Excel

  • GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English at Level 2 or above

Desirable

  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g. lookups, pivot tables)

  • Strong reconciliation and negotiation skills

  • Experience managing multiple client accounts

  • Willingness to visit clients where required to resolve issues
