The Opportunity:

Our client, a leading reputable SME contractor is looking for an Estimator to join their team in Thames Ditton. As the Estimator you will work on projects ranging in average value from £5million - £20million in sectors such as Commercial, Civils, Education and Healthcare and you will have Estimating experience within Civils, Groundworks, RC Frames and Temporary works.

Your Role and Experience:

*Estimating experience of Groundworks, Civils, Temporary Works, RC Structures to enable lump sum tender bids.
*Quantity take-off using CAD measurement (or similar e.g. Bluebeam)
*Abstract quantities and compile Bills of Quantities, Typically in SMM format from database.
*Compile preliminaries schedule based on programme and sequencing.
*Compile and send to client RFI list where required mid-tender. Where required list tender specific qualifications where items not fully resolved at submission.
*Disclaimers on accuracy of information by client.
*Liaise with client during the tender period.
*Review contract documents and make due allowances with reference to:
oScope of works
oCDP items such as waterproofing
oSoil report / WAC - identify and estimate split on quantity of soils classification.
oSite restrictions / Planning agreements / Logistics
*Assessment of risk items and list for internal discussion.
*Assessment and listing of provisional sum items and values.
*Assess and list VE options where apparent.
*Obtain, liaising with buying dept. supply quotes for reoccurring variable items such a concrete, rebar, muck away, drainage goods, paving's etc.
*Seek specialist / project bespoke quotes such as precast units, stairs, pump stations, hydro-breaks etc.
*Check document ahead of submission for errors in quantum / extension / sums.
*Pricing of Bills of Quantities with rates compatible with the size and complexities of the project and considering the programme. Rate build up data base is in use but the application understanding on up/down % on labour and plant hours specific to the project is required.
*As appropriate attend mid-tender, post tender and order meetings with clients and client's consultants.
