Day in the Life: Rebecca Meggs - Marketing Manager

Meet Rebecca - our Marketing Manager!

How long have you been in the infrastructure industry? And McGinley?

I joined the infrastructure industry and McGinley 11 years ago as a marketing assistant from retail marketing and apprenticeship support.

Run through of an average day.

I now work part-time, after returning from maternity leave in early 2022. So, I try to keep my day as structured as possible to complete all my tasks. An example day could be starting with emails and task notes, then moving on to social media responses and planning for the next week. After lunch, I usually have a meeting slot for internal or outbound communication planning. Followed by a website, HTML mail or printed media planning and creation session.

What led you to join the infrastructure industry?

I was working in retail marketing for the apprenticeship team of a major supermarket chain in 2012 when we needed some additional support. So, we advertised for an assistant. When checking the advert for this role on a job board, I saw a job for a Marketing Assistant at McGinley. And I just thought wow! Look at that role it’s so varied and exciting. Before I knew it, I was applying. And the rest they say is history.

What career advice would you give to your younger self?

Don’t be afraid of change. Take a risk and join an industry outside your comfort zone, you may find your perfect match – even if you weren’t looking for it!
