Supplying Safety Critical Rail Workers and Celebrating Excellence on SCS HS2 Project

As a leading supplier of Safety Critical Rail workers, McGinley Support Services proudly provides essential support to the SCS HS2 project. Our team, including ALO Coordinators and COSS (Controller of Site Safety), ensures that work alongside the live railway is conducted safely and efficiently, minimising disruption to third parties such as Network Rail.

We currently supply 20 ALO Coordinators to the SCS HS2 project, managing an ALO rota to cover all shifts and comply with Sentinel Fatigue Management rules. Despite the project's dynamic nature, often requiring last-minute cover, we consistently provide competent and inducted staff to support work adjacent to Network Rail Infrastructure.

Promoting an Inclusive Culture

McGinley is dedicated to fostering an inclusive culture within the SCS project. We are proud to report that 76% of our workforce on the Labour Desk comes from Black, Asian, or minority ethnic backgrounds. Furthermore, we welcomed six female new-starters in Quarter 1, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion in the construction industry.

Prostate Cancer Awareness Campaign

Our dedication to health and safety extends beyond the physical aspects of the job. McGinley recently led a Prostate Cancer Awareness Campaign across the SCS project, spearheaded by our Labour Manager and Health and Safety Manager. This initiative, presented during the Start of Shift Briefings, aimed to raise awareness, highlight symptoms, and dispel common myths about prostate cancer.

The presentation was tailored specifically to the project, using real statistics to underscore the prevalence of prostate cancer among operatives. It also addressed risk factors such as ethnicity and age, which many operatives were unaware of. The campaign received positive feedback and we hope it will pave the way for the introduction of PSA testing on site.

Celebrating Excellence

We are also delighted to recognise the outstanding contributions of our staff. Nega Legasse, a Traffic Marshall at Copthall North, received the 'Passionate about Excellence' Award in the last quarter. With over four years on the project, Nega was nominated by more than ten colleagues for his dedication to traffic management and safety culture. His willingness to assist new starters and his commitment to excellence were celebrated by his peers and formally recognised by George Patel, Senior General Foreman.

Looking Forward

McGinley Support Services remains committed to supporting the SCS HS2 project with a focus on safety, inclusivity, and excellence. We are proud of our workforce and their contributions to the project's success, and we will continue to strive for the highest standards in all aspects of our work.
