The Big Rail Diversity Challenge: Driving Gender Balance and Inclusion

7 YEARS. 6 LIVE EVENTS. 1 VIRTUAL EVENT. OVER 3280 PARTICIPANTS. 164 CHALLENGES.

The Big Rail Diversity Challenge is back on Wednesday 21st June 2023.

The founding purpose behind The Big Rail Diversity Challenge is as relevant today as it was when it was launched in 2016 by Women in Rail.

The UK rail sector is innovative and forward-thinking, yet one of the biggest challenges facing the rail industry is how to diversify the current workforce. Only 16% of the total UK rail workforce is female and of that only 2% of those are engineers.

“The Big Rail Diversity Challenge is an important step in the rail industry agenda. It openly seeks to disprove one of the most destructive myths in professional life: that women and men cannot work effectively together. By engaging both men and women in equal measure, we have started to tackle gender imbalance head-on and create a more attractive, productive and successful industry in the process” – Adeline Ginn, Founder of Women in Rail.

The BRDC, organised by multi-media specialists Nimble Media Ltd in collaboration with Women in Rail, is being held at Newark Showground, Nottinghamshire, on 21 June and teams can look forward to 28 physical, mental and skill-based activities, including five new ones for 2023.

There’s still time for organisations to join us and take part, call to speak to a member of the BRDC team on 01780 432930 or email info@bigraildiversity.co.uk
