Trussell Trust

McGinley is proud to be supporting our local foodbank networks, run by The Trussell Trust.

As part of our McGinley in the Community Scheme, we have arranged a quarterly donation to the Foodbanks closest to our 11 offices across the UK.

Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. A simple box of food makes a big difference, with foodbanks helping prevent crime, housing loss, family breakdown and mental health problems.

More Than Food

Foodbanks also offer a lot more than food. Volunteers provide a listening ear to clients over a warm drink and signpost people to other charities and agencies who can help resolve the underlying cause of the crisis.

UK foodbank use continues to rise according to new data from anti-poverty charity, Between 1 April 2017 and 31 March 2018, the Trussell Trust’s food bank network distributed 1,332,952 three day emergency food supplies to people in crisis, a 13% increase on the previous year. 484,026 of these went to children. This is a higher increase than the previous financial year, where food bank use was up by 6%.
