Our client is looking for an experienced Workforce Health, Safety & Environment Advisor to work on a Manual Handling Improvement Project for CP6, for Incident Data Collection and Analysis.
As part of the Manual Handling Improvement CP6 project, Workstream 1 focuses on analysing data on injuries and reported musculoskeletal strains / injuries to identify key priorities for risk reduction.
What you will do:
*Review 5 years of manual handling incident records (in a spreadsheet), identifying and logging the manual handling operation/equipment implicated in each incident (by analysis of the narrative data in the record) and the staff group involved;
*Review 5 years of incident records on other workplace accidents to identify and add to the log any that could have had a manual handling operation as their underlying cause;
*Where clarification is required on the cause of an incident, to obtain this from relevant Route staff;
*A classification for causes will have been developed, but this may need refinement and will need to be applied to each of the records;
*Manage the logs of manual handling incidents using a spreadsheet tool to create a database of manual handling incident data, making sure that each record is clear, complete and traceable back to the originating source.
*Perform initial statistical analyses of the manual handling data collected to identify the most frequent manual handling operations/equipment, staff types etc. involved.
*Set up focus groups for frontline staff across the business that covers all discipline groups. Attend focus groups, capturing and writing up results.
*Provide frequent updates on progress and be available for planned project team meetings in Milton Keynes.
Your knowledge and experience will include:
*Broad knowledge of Network Rail maintenance tasks and related equipment (to be able to identify the manual handling tasks within the incident records);
*Capable of following a structured approach to tasks involving data analysis and classification;
*Experience of handling and manipulating both textual and numerical information within MS Excel spreadsheets, including ability to sum and report on numbers of entries as required;
*Good communications and influencing skills to persuade Route staff to provide the required contributions (i.e. clarification/verification of data, providing staff access for focus groups).
This is an initial five-month contract with a possibility of extension. Office location is in Milton Keynes but the role will be home based for the duration of the initial contract.
